A Stroll Along Passeig de Gracia

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

When we got to Passeig de Gracia, we were already hungry and got some food (paella, calamari and fries) at Tapa Tapa before we continued on our exploration.

Passeig de Gràcia (Catalan pronunciation: [pəˈsɛdʒ də ˈɣɾasiə]) is one of the major avenues in Barcelona (Catalonia) and one of its most important shopping and business areas, containing several of the city's most celebrated pieces of architecture. It is located in the central part of Eixample, stretching from Plaça Catalunya to Carrer Gran de Gràcia.

Passeig de Gràcia is regarded as the most expensive street in Barcelona and in Spain. [Wiki]

We walked towards the direction of La Pedrera/Casa Mila (away from Placa de Catalunya).  Below are some of the buildings we passed by on that side of the road.

We didn't go inside La Pedrera/Casa Mila as it's a bit pricey (at Euro18 per person).  It is a modernist building located at 92 Passeig de Gracia, at the corner of Carrer de Provenca, in the Eixample. [Wiki]

At this point, we crossed the street and continued on the way back to Placa de Catalunya, passing by Casa Batllo [Wiki], Casa Amatller [Wiki] and some other buildings.
